The CVM Vision - aiming high

sunsetjumpIf you've never heard of us before, you'll want to know that CVM exists to:

"Equip the church to introduce every man
in the UK to Jesus Christ."

Pure and simple:

Evangelism - Men - The UK.

Well that statement is simple enough, but the task is tough. The UK church is haemorrhaging men and most churches have no idea what to do to halt the exodus of believing men, let alone introduce men to Jesus. Therefore CVM! We have proven strategies to reach outside the church walls and some cracking ideas to gear your church up for men. Join our growing Band of Brothers across the UK who have decided to put their shoulders to the plough.

To Equip ...

We want you to realise that CVM is your ‘first port of call’ for any men’s issues faced by your church, whether by the ‘believing’ men already in the church, or the “Not Yet Believing” (NYB) men you know you should be reaching. If we can’t address your query, then we will either divert you to an expert in another ministry, or work hard to answer your issue for you. So, we are not a ‘One Stop Shop’ with all the answers, but we aim to ‘know a man who does’. Other specialist ministries are doing great stuff already in their areas, and, as there’s no competition in Kingdom business, we’ll gladly commend them to you.

church... The Church

We have a really high view of Church. She is the Bride of Christ, and the instrument through which God chooses to operate on Planet Earth. So we see every pastor and church leader as accountable to The Lord for outreach in the area around their church – we are not! We aim to stand invisibly beside the leadership of local churches so that they themselves feel much better enabled for this task. We at CVM are teeming with ideas, imagination and initiatives for you to adopt and adapt locally. We do not seek to have the CVM flag flying from your church, but rather, envision local men reaching local men, whilst tapping into our national resources.

... To Introduce

While God can intervene miraculously in a person’s life without any other human intervention, almost always it takes someone to explain the Gospel to a NYB. Romans 10.14-15 makes it clear that each of us may well be the Gospel’s conduit into a neighbour’s or colleague’s life. British men are often tongue-tied, so they need to be helped to share their faith with a friend, and the churches need to set up organised events that present the Gospel relevantly for men; events staged to match where the NYB has reached in his walk towards the Kingdom, recognising that most men are nowhere near yet.

... Every Man...every man

Surely every man in the UK has a right to know about His Creator and His Saviour, so that He becomes his Lord. British churches tend to touch either the middle class white man, or the Afro-Caribbean. Dukes, dentists, dustmen and down and outs need to know the Lord, whether they are born in England, Ethiopia, East Timor or Ecuador. Arguably, 26 million men in the UK do not yet know Jesus as their Saviour. By the way, men are different from women, just as the youth are different from the ‘seniors’. That’s why we suggest targeted events.

... In the UK

We focus on the UK. Outreach in Uganda is very different from outreach in the United Kingdom. And outreach in 2007 is very different from outreach in 1907. We realise this, which is why all our resource materials aim to be contemporary, relevant, do-able, practical and successful. We draw on experiences in comparable countries such as the USA, South Africa and Australia, but our mission remains the UK. If you are accessing this from elsewhere, we will gladly give you advice and access to what we’ve learnt and we’d be excited were you to start an equivalent ministry in your own country: "To equip the church to introduce every man in (add your own country here) to Jesus Christ".

... to Jesus Christ

Jesus, fully God and fully man. He has died for you and me. His shed blood cleanses our sin. He sits at the right hand of God today interceding for you and me. What more could a man need? What better friend than Jesus?

And that's our vision!

Join us... and let us help you bring your friends and colleagues to Jesus.
