4-Level Evangelism

The Challenge

We can't give you all of our thinking from 20 years experience in a few lines, so here just a few facts to get you going:

  • In the UK today, men take on average 5 years to come to Christ from the point of first hearing the Gospel.

  • Billy Graham reckoned that 80% of those who came to Christ at his missions were brought by a friend.

  • He also says that on average men need to hear the Gospel about 30 times before they commit their lives to Jesus.

  • Winning men could be a key to seeing the Nation won for Jesus. Statistics quoted in Evangelicals Now, May 2003, state that -

childIf you lead a child to Christ, 3% of their families follow

motherIf you lead a mother to Christ, 17% of their families follow

fatherIf you lead a father to Christ, 93% of their families follow!

It's not rocket science when we say that evangelism to men therefore needs to be long term, persistent, based on friendships and made a priority.

CVM's 4-Level evangelism explained...

l1_go_kart

Level 1:

Events or activities with Zero Christian content – believing and not-yet-believing men just meeting together for a fun event or activity. It’s easy to get going! For instance, 5-aside, fishing, go-karting, paintballing, DIY projects, Skittles nights, pub quiz…or how about hiring a coach to go and watch a Big match together? Use your imagination and make it FUN!

Level 2:

Events always involve a speaker. Breakfast, Dinner, Fish ‘n’ Chip supper (whatever is available in your area). Tap into CVM’s acclaimed Speakers List for a wide variety (over 180 speakers) of men to come speak at your event.

Level 3:

Put on a course for men to chew the fat and debate the Gospel. We don't recommend any particular course...there are some excellent ones out there from Alpha to Christianity Explored.

Level 4:

Discipling men in the ways of Jesus. Get involved in a church that is geared up for men and plugs them into an environment that keeps them gripped and excited by Jesus. CVM has loads of ideas and strategies to help gear your church up.

For the full workshop get one of the team along to speak to your men. Partners can also access the presentations via the Partner's Area. Partnering is easy and joins you to a band of brothers who share your passion for reaching men.

Approach

Make it fun - Revolve it around food - Men will love to come!

None of us has tons of time free to tackle all the levels of evangelism all at once, but spread over the year it is do-able.See below for a suggested programme that doesn't cause you too much pressure.

4 Level Outreach

Pace yourselves...plan your outreach program over the year.

Remember one important fact: rarity has value.

Work the programme so that your guests are asking for the next event rather than asking to be excused from it.
